About
Barton Black

Whether resolving a partnership dispute for a small business, forming a technology startup, or recovering damages for harm suffered from the actions of others, Barton Black Law strives to resolve your issues in a timely manner and with the least financial burden to you. Barton Black, the founder of Barton Black Law, is a trusted attorney whose technical and business background compliment his legal work by allowing him to recognize and understand complex legal issues in the business world. Barton's business acumen allows him to adeptly represent both businesses and individuals in a wide array of disputes and other legal matters.

Barton has honed his legal skills alongside the best of the large and medium firms throughout Atlanta, resolving issues with local, national, and global reach. Barton began his law career practicing for the intellectual property group at Alston + Bird, a global law firm based in Atlanta. Afterward, Barton practiced with Swift Currie, a regional firm in Atlanta, focusing solely on business and insurance litigation and sharpened his litigation skills. Barton moved to Thrasher Liss & Smith (formerly Joyce Thrasher Kaiser & Liss) for over three years, where he developed a broad business law practice in both litigation and corporate matters. During this time, Barton also fought for the rights and privileges of individuals facing stress and inequities in the workplace. The absence of strong and affordable counsel to fight for these small businesses and individuals inspired Barton to create Barton Black Law, LLC.

Prior to law school, Barton worked as a business consultant with KPMG, a global accounting firm. This indelible experience has allowed Barton to immediately understand businesses without squandering clients’ time and money to learn what most others find to be the complicated inner workings of a business or corporation.

Barton received his law degree, with honors, from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 2007. While in law school, he served on the Moot Court Board, the Student Bar Association, and was a finalist in the National Moot Court Competition. Barton received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, with honors, from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2000.

When not practicing law, Barton enjoys spending time with his two young daughters, and his wife, Brin. Barton enjoys travel and continues to seek out more of the cultures in the world with Brin. Barton and his family are members of Northside United Methodist Church, where Barton is active in the men’s ministry. In addition, Barton and Brin support several non-profits that focus on improving the lives of Africans, including CARE for AIDS and the Small Voices Foundation.
